How-to guides
Short animations, each under half a minute, showing how to use SkyFlux outdoors, under a real sky: lining the sky view up with the stars, finding a planet, reading tonight's score and getting an aurora alert.
Why is the sky in the wrong place?
If the stars and planets on your screen sit beside the real ones, the phone’s compass is off. A calibration of about a minute brings them back in line.
How do I find Jupiter, or anything else, in the sky?
Search for it, hold the phone up and follow the arrow. When the ring on the screen turns green, the phone is pointing at the object.
Is tonight worth going out?
Open Tonight. The number at the top rates the coming night out of 100 and the word sums it up, and Should I go out? turns them into a plain answer and a time to be outside.
How do I get an alert when the aurora is strong?
Switch on Enable notifications in Settings and keep Aurora on. The app then tells you when the aurora may be visible where you are, even when the app is closed. The alert is free.
