SkyFlux

Privacy policy

Last updated 16 August 2026 · applies to the SkyFlux mobile and web app

The short version: SkyFlux has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking SDKs. We run no servers that store anything about you. The only thing that ever leaves your device is your location rounded to about a 60 km² area, sent to two weather/geography services so the app can show your cloud forecast and the name of the place you are in.

Who we are

SkyFlux is made by Täisühing Nordic Moonlight, registry code 11234439, Estonia. For anything in this policy, write to support@nordicmoonlight.com.

What leaves your device, and where it goes

WhatSent toWhy
Approximate location — coordinates rounded to one decimal place (a cell of roughly 60 km²; your street or home cannot be identified from it) Open-Meteo The cloud-cover forecast for your night sky
The same rounded location BigDataCloud Showing a place name (e.g. your town) instead of raw coordinates

These requests carry no identifiers — no account, no advertising ID, no device fingerprint. Like every internet request they expose an IP address to the service that answers them; we attach nothing to it.

The app also reads public astronomy and space-weather feeds — NOAA SWPC, NASA SDO, CelesTrak. These are plain downloads in the other direction: no data about you is sent to them at all.

What never leaves your device

What we store on our servers about you

Nothing. SkyFlux has no user accounts and no server-side database of users. There is consequently nothing for us to sell, share, or lose — and nothing to delete on request, though you are welcome to write and ask.

The version of the app distributed outside the app stores checks our file storage for a newer version when you open it. That request carries no personal data. Versions installed from Google Play or the App Store do not include this mechanism.

Permissions the app asks for

PermissionUsed for
LocationComputing what your sky looks like from where you stand, and the two requests above. Optional — you can pick a place by hand instead.
CameraThe AR sky view only. Optional.
Motion sensorsPointing the sky map where you point the phone. Optional.
NotificationsLocally scheduled astronomy reminders you switch on yourself. Optional.

Children

SkyFlux is suitable for a general audience and collects no personal data from anyone, children included.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever starts doing more than is described here — for example an optional aurora-alert service — this page will say so plainly before that version ships, and the date at the top will change.
